YOUTH LEADERSHIP

United Youth Marine Cadets is holistically dedicated toward instilling positive, productive, and dynamic youth leadership to our cadets; and leadership training for adult volunteers who what to make an impact with our youth. One step toward helping youth leadership become a social priority, is having strong parental advocacy, excellent resources when necessary and keeping positive, goal-oriented and educated adults in our program.

UYMC strategically upholds a developmental approach that recognizes our youth leaders as important resources, as well as partners, who are entrusted with the responsibility as leaders not only in UYMC, but in every aspect of their lives. Seeing as how no one is perfect, our approach affords our youth leaders with the opportunity to acquire new leadership skills, and gives them room to make mistakes.

As youth leadership educators, we want to create an environment where a positive mental attitude supersedes negative circumstances and situations. We instruct our cadets to confront all obstacles with effective problem solving skills, perseverance and patience to see their desired end result come into existence. The youth Leaders learn from us, and we continue to reach our own goals by learning and leading with them.

Promotions are based on a Drill Performance Test, a Physical Fitness Test, a General Military Subjects exam, Time in Grade, Attendance, and after the rank of E-4, your ability to lead.
